Summary/Abstract: The publishing of the first volume of the monograph on the temple of Jupiter Dolichenus from the Septimian municipium of Porolissum (Gudea-Tamba 2001) and the forthcoming of the second volume allowed us a better understanding of the cult for this god. One of the most regularly found items in such temples are the votive plaques of triangular shape and decorated (Höring- Schwertheim 1987). A fragment from such a piece was found at Porolissum. It was part of a triangular votive plaque. It depicts the goddess Victory and its location was on the top of the votive plaque (Gudea- Tamba 2001, 30, no. 13; 102, no. 13, fig. 37-38). Similar pieces, but not all of them, were categorized by S. de Bellis (Bellis 1997). Still, this set up was based more on a descriptive iconography. The author of the present study gathered all such votive plaques in a total of 32 pieces. 15 of them are illustrated. The pieces are organized according to the following criteria: a. decoration; b. the decoration technique; c. the way the images are displayed; the display of images within registers; e. the image typology. The results following this combination led to some important observations from both technical and theological points of view regarding the cult of Jupiter Dolichenus.
