Regional Innovation Linkages in Emerging Estonian Wood and Forest Industry Cluster

Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the innovation in wood industries that have been very successful in exporting and shifting towards higher value-added products. Since the competitiveness of this industry has increased on the foreign markets, the idea is tested, whether there is some cluster relationships forming concerning the innovation. As the company analysis shows, there are no strong cluster links identified. The innovation is generally enhanced by firm’s internal resources (i.e. R&D expenses - but not much in wood sector and R&D employees), but also by external factors – collaborative networks and cooperation with EU old member states.
