BENEFICIARIES OF FUNDS UNDER OPERATIONAL PROGRAMS OF THE EU – ROLE AND IMPORTANCE IN THE PROCESS OF EUROPEAN FINANCING

Summary/Abstract: This paper investigates the role of beneficiaries in Bulgaria in the absorption of European funding in the first planning period of membership in the Euro-pean Union (EU). The topicality of the study is determined by their key significance as direct participants in the use of European funds granted under operational programs (OP) and their importance for the economic development of our country. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the overall progress in the physical and financial implementation of the programs, a key role for which play the beneficiaries themselves. In connection with this, it is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of the EU funds in Bulgaria, on the one hand, to contribute to quality management in the current programming period and, on the other, to provide for valuable information and guidance to the beneficiaries of those funds.
