Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses three metaphors mentioned in The Bible and Morality, which John uses to express the significance of Jesus and which, according to this document, are connected to the law: the gate, the shepherd and the way. After considering the criteria proposed by Severino Pancaro, it is stated that the main metaphor comparing Jesus with the Torah is “life”. The symbol of “the way” is used for this purpose as well, but the other two symbols, the gate and the shepherd, connect Jesus with the law only indirectly.
