Summary/Abstract: One of the main problems of the present day is answering the question about thestatus of the values of the world. In the context of the 20th century totalitarianisms’ it is a fundamental issue. Eric Voegelin’s idea has been enrolled in this range of problems. According to the author of the The New Science of Politics, the modern era, denying the ideas of the ancient thought (Plato) and Christianity, is the world of gnosis. Gnosis is the belief that man is able to organize collective life on his own, outside the world of objective values. Thisway of thinking, according to Voegelin, gave historical evil: fascism, communism and liberalism. The New Science of Politics is to rely on reference to the thoughts of pre‑modern era. Voegelin’s position is an important voice in the debate over the axiologicalchaos that takes place in the contemporary civilization and culture.
