Summary/Abstract: The article presents and explains the material contained in the entry ἂν of the Greek-Old Church Slavonic Index, which has been compiled in the Institute of Slavonic Studies of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The author points up the fact that the equivalents oubo and ἂν are in most cases formal imitations of the particle ἂν of the Greek original. This fact has been already observed by other authors (Bauer, Bauerová, Večerka); the author amends and presents the studied material in detail. From the material follows that formal usage of oubo and a]e instead of the Greek particle ἂν is typical for Cyrilo-Methodian translators´ tradition and it is one of (artificial) language means that the first Slavic translators used to get Slavonic standard language the most approximate to literary Greek.
