Summary/Abstract: The article examines Adorno’s view that philosophical aesthetics is lagging behind the progress of the avant-garde. Thus, traditional aesthetics is becoming obsolete and turning into an anachronistic theoretical activity. Seeking a solution to this crisis situation, aesthetics strives to find adequate theoretical ideas – paradigms – able to competently summarize the results of creative art. Contemporary aesthetics is turning into an interpretative science that works with various philosophical paradigms.
