Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the Guideline on Spiritual Care in Bedside Medical Facilities of Medical Service Providers from 13th April 2017 issued by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. The author summarizes the development of regulatory efforts and analyses the foundations of the text of the guideline. He then focuses on the status and understanding of spiritual care in health care, its organizational provisions and its main providers: hospital chaplains. The issuing of the guideline represents significant progress in the provision of holistic health care and in the necessary regulation of spiritual care in the health care sector in the Czech Republic, although it will certainly need some specification and completion sooner or later.
