Summary/Abstract: This article looks at the theatre practice of one of Poland's leading directors, Krzysztof Warlikowski, from its early stages of evolution and development in the mid-1990s to the present day. In particular, it traces the gradual process of gathering together the members of the 'informal ensemble' with whom Warlikowski has continued to work over the past decade, revealing how the core collaborations that it has engendered have remained at the heart of the productions directed by Warlikowski and of the development of his distinctive 'theatre language'.
