Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to outline the basic methodological, theoretical, and technical issues in the development and practice of organizational identity formation through research. The development of the methodology and the studies were set in the context of attempting to create a program in the Department of Communication at The Ohio State University, Communication in the Public Interest. As the name implies, we believe that Communication Research can serve the public through pedagogy and research with policy payoff.
