Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the role of the family in the process of assistance related to the direction of education and the profession young people with physical disabilities choice. For this group, as future employees – well educated young people with disabilities – entering into the labor market sometimes is long and often fails. There is the significant role of the family as a supportive environment. The particular attention was paid to the discussion of the factors affecting the educational and professional choices, among others: parents’ educational level, the choice of field of study and occupations of family members, the situation of social household family, parents satisfaction with career choices investigated, and others. In addition, the review of the possibilities for career development of people with disabilities on the basis of system support has been made during those considerations.
