The loss of the faith in God (secularization and deteisation of the consciousness) and political radicalism in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century

Summary/Abstract: This process covers the 18th and 19th centuries. Religious activity of the Orthodox Church is gradually getting weak. The collapse of previously recognized authority of clergy is observed. Two hostile towards one another subcultures sprang up: the educated in a spirit of Western culture elite, and cut off from intellectual achievements and spiritually benighted people. Those people gave in to the pressure from populist agitation and paved the way for Bolsheviks’ victory. A positive side of that tragedy was disappearance of the antagonistic subcultures and a chance of religious revival of postcommunistic Russia.
