Poles’ attitudes toward modernization

Summary/Abstract: The article presents comparative analyses of changes in attitudes toward modernization in the years 2010 and 2016. The results of empirical investigations showed, that in the year 2010 on the highest level (45%) was accepted the contestation attitude, but in the year 2016 – alter-modernization attitude (33%). There is a certain growth of the representatives of the pro-modernization attitude (from 18% to 26%). In the case of the anomy attitude we observed a stabile level of acceptance – between 27-28%. The important result is also the differentiations of the attitudes toward modernization among social classes. The pro-modernization attitudes are typical for the managers, owners of the companies and specialists. Alter-modernization attitudes dominate among technicians. In the case of qualified workers there are observed three attitudes on the similar level of acceptance: alter-modernization attitude – 35%; anomic attitude – 30%; pro-modernization attitude – 26%.
