Summary/Abstract: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) symptoms manifest as behavioural, cognitive, and social difficulties, the occurrence of which is very differentiated depending on their intensity and frequency. The constant increase in knowledge about the determinants of autism and the discovery of pathomechanisms, underlying symptoms present during postnatal development, leads to the search for new therapeutic proposals. Current suggestions for aiding the development and therapy of individuals with ASD increasingly benefit from achievements in advanced techniques, using various forms of assistive technology. The most advanced approach is the use of multifunctional robots. The article reviews the results of current studies on the effectiveness of the use of robotic therapy in autism spectrum disorders in light of the following questions: 1. What developmental aspects of individuals with ASD can be stimulated by the use of robots? 2. What robotic characteristics are important for the functional improvement of individuals with ASD?
