Summary/Abstract: Germany’s policy towards refugees has at times been a very controversially discussed topic. Divisions often run between neighbours, friends and families. Th e country has faced challenges receiving and integrating the large number of refugees who arrived in 2015 and 2016. Yet, this process brought some surprising developments, especially on the eastern parts of the country.
