Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to conduct a legal analysis of the law on the handling of complaints by financial market actors and the Financial Ombudsman from the point of view of consumer protection effectiveness. In the first part, the author examines the scope and subject of consumer protection in a comparative perspective, compiling the provisions of the Law on the Financial Ombudsman with the previous normative acts regulating the issues, introduced into the legal order on the basis of resolutions of the KNF. The author then presents the main normative assumptions and assesses the specific regulations of the Financial Ombudsman Act. In particular, the author examines the scope of the Ombudsman's competence in relation to the former Insured Ombudsman, analyzes "out-of-court dispute settlement proceedings" before the Financial Ombudsman and presents the features of the so- Complaints carried out by financial market entities.
