Summary/Abstract: The archival materials as cultural goods are protected by the provisions of the international (The Hague Convention and others) and BH regulations (Law on Archival Activities, Criminal Law and others). All these regulations, however, were not enough to properly protect the archival materials produced before, or during the war 19921995. Apart from the direct consequences caused by the war there are numerous other causes due to which these cultural goods were damaged or are still being damaged in the process of producing or protection. Neglect and other problems that have resulted from the social disorders caused by the war are some of those causes. The war has brought about some other questions to be discussed such as character of the archival materials owned by new holders (humanitarian and other international organisations, records belonging to the record offices of the military industry and the like) until now unknown in our archival theory and practice. All these activities require the systemic regulation of the new relations (passing a new law and bylaws) especially those related to an adequate valorisation of the war production of the archival materials. Until then both the record offices and the archival institutions have to do their best to register, protect and sort out the records produced during the war.
