Summary/Abstract: The archives' care of registry materials belonging to new holders starts from the moment of recording those materials, to organising their office and archival activities as regulated by the Law, to supervising whether the agreed upon norms of behaviour are followed. In practice, the situation is very complex. The system of recording is not established the way that information on newly founded record offices are automatically forwarded from the competent courts to the archives. All new holders registered during last year (about 50 of them) were "discovered" while the workers of the Archives of Tuzla were performing their regular tasks in the field. In addition, the new producers or holders of the registry materials behave inadequately and very often nonchalantly in reference to their own office and archival activities. This is especially the case with the private sector, which is still suspicious of any kind of control or supervision, mostly because of not being familiar with the nature and competencies of the archival activities. Despite all difficulties, however, there are a certain number of the new holders who have established the adequate managing of the records, while most of the others are at very beginning of this process.
