Summary/Abstract: Pits from settlements with human individuals from the area of Slovakia are described. The individuals were deposited into them in an unusual way during 9th - 12th centuries. Creative utilization of knowledge from archeological and ethnographical studies made it possible to find the casuses of such way of inhumation. It was found in this way that were individuals who belonged in the given community to a mentally or physically problematic group.
