Summary/Abstract: The article describes an innovative method of qualitative research called collective biographywriting (CBW), which is not known at all in the pedagogical research of the region of Central andEastern Europe. CBW is focused on intensively felt, suggestive memories which are analysedcollectively according to a given methodological procedure. CBW may be applied to discovercomplex conditioning and contexts of individual’s functioning, thanks to which we may tryto answer the questions about what we really know about ourselves, others and the reality.The ultimate aim of using CBW is the exposure of what “life” as such looks like, how the worldfunctions, what reality is like and what happens in it – the aim is understanding.
