Summary/Abstract: A political turn to the right can be observed in Latin America since 2016. The impeachment of Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff and the victory of Peru’s neoliberal politician Pedro Pablo Kuczynski are good examples of the trend. It puts into question the left-wing model of development, based on the structuralist approach. Another important event is the Colombian peace process and signing the peace agreement between the government and the FARC. Although it is hard to predict whether it will be successful, it is the first chance to settle the conflict which dates back to 1948. Last but not least, the historic visit of the US President Barack Obama to Cuba should be mentioned: it was the effect of the deepening American-Cuban rapprochement. The article seeks to present those events in a broader international perspective.
