Summary/Abstract: The retail prices of foodstuffs have increased a lot lately. According to the Central Statistic Office food prices in March 2011 were 5% higher than a year ago. There are a lot of factors influencing the food price increase, e.g. the prices of flour and bread are getting higher due to the increase of crops procurement prices. The prices of fruit are growing because of low amount of fruit in the home market. The aim of this article is to identify the causal relationships between some factors, e.g. the size of procurement, the agricultural prices and food prices.
