Between choice and necessity. The crisis of vocation and priestly identification among Roman Catholic priests in Poland. Sociological study.

Summary/Abstract: The sociological study applying a very complex methodology, has been based on an extensive resource material covering the opinions of parish priests, monks and ex-priests. The research shows that following the pastoral vocation is a very complex problem for each Catholic priest, parish or monastic, because of the celibacy and the lonely style of life with no place for the human love for a woman, family and sexual life. A great number of priests do not accept these conditions and they break the rules to some extent, in an informal way of course.
