Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the author presents his hypothesis about complementarity between methodological individualism and holism, arguing that there is not one view regarding the application of those methods of economic research. Therefore, positive verification of this hypothesis is a basis for the conclusion, in which the author confirms that the paradigms of mainstream economics have to be modified and include the research of institutional economics.
