Summary/Abstract: Provenance marks in books, particularly in old prints, make up a very interesting research corpus. Provenance research in antique collections requires an extensive knowledge on the part of the scholar and provides such knowledge. Old print collections stored in ecclesiastical and convent libraries constitute a source for the research of the history of libraries and book collections, of their owners as well as of the kind of impact which books made on readers. A complete study of all contemporary Polish ecclesiastical book collections, especially of prints from the 15th century up to the 18th century, would make it possible to evaluate the role of books in shaping religious culture in Polish territories.
