COMMON HERITAGE. BOOKPLATES AND OTHER MARKS OF OWNERSHIP FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE LIBRARY OF THE WARMIA METROPOLIS’ ‘HOSIANUM’ MAJOR SEMINARY IN OLSZTYN

Summary/Abstract: The 770th anniversary of the foundation of the Diocese of Warmia and the 660th anniversary of the conferring of civic rights to Olsztyn offered an opportunity for organizing an exhibition of photographs of bookplates and other marks of ownership collected in the ‘Hosianum’ Library in Olsztyn. Th e title of the exhibition: Common Heritage indicates that the holders of presented marks of ownership for the most part were not only bishops of the Catholic Church but also distinguished personalities of the political and social life of their epoch. The exhibition included works belonging to such bishops as: Łukasz Watzenrode, Jan Dantyszek, Marcin Kromer and Andrzej Batory.
