Summary/Abstract: Ebony Tower by John Fowles focuses on similar themes and offers many points of view similar to those in Efrasiyab'ın Hikâyeleri by İhsan Oktay Anar as both include enigmas, the use of setting, irony and parody, and question such concepts as art, sex, creativity, relativity, reality and self-discovery. Both works are presented in a kind of play, in which the plot is mystified and screened thorough a foggy atmosphere, where the reader is forced to follow what happens from behind a curtain. In both works there is a presentation of reality, but it is not a fixed, certain concept. Instead, it is an elusive reality which always evolves, changes and needs to be reconsidered depending on emerging situations and manners of characters. The reality based upon narrative forms has dreamlike, symbolic and metaphysical suggestions as those in stories, legends and mythology. As it makes one dimensional interpretation impossible, it begins to win a multi-layered scheme of understanding and evaluation.
