Summary/Abstract: In an article in the context of the history of Polish art from Middle Ages to the early twentieth century, considered portraits and themed paintings, heroes who have children. It is noted that Polish painters developed visual tricks and ways to display the world of childhood, depending on the styles and trends that prevailed in the arts at every historical stage. Children’s images of Polish painting endowed identity expression, psychological, features inherent in the Polish national artistic traditions. Particular attention is paid to the works of the nineteenth – early. Twentieth century, because it is during this period images of children become independent, self-sufficient kind of painting, where artists attached particular importance. The article analyzed the works of leading Polish artists: M. Kober, W. Stattler, P. Mihalovski, A. Kotsis, J. Mateyko, S. Vyspyanski, O. Boznanska, J. Malchevski et al.
