Summary/Abstract: This study, the first part of two, presents short notes and comments on the officials of the Byzantine theme of Koloneia. Two Byzantine lead seals are published here for the first time. One belongs to Leon, krites of Koloneia, the other to Michael, anagrapheus and krites of Koloneia and Sebasteia. The lost inscription of Ioannes, droungarios of Koloneia is also presented here, together with a previously unnoticed reference to another droungarios in the Passio of the 42 Martyrs of Amorion. The lists of the kritai and strategoi of Koloneia are completed on the basis of recently discovered and published, but also unpublished evidence.
