Summary/Abstract: This article follows the stories of two millitary chaplains Karel Forst and Gustav Šuman. They both served in the Austro-Hungarian army during the WWI and then in the army of the first Czechoslovak Republic. During the nazi occupation they were imprisoned. Their paths after the war went in different directions. Karel Forst served as a parish priest in a difficult area of western Bohemia. Gustav Suman was sentenced in a staged trial and he save himself from imprisoning by fleeing abroad. He died in exile.
