Summary/Abstract: The article studies the problem of the existence of the culture of Potestas among the Sakha in the pre-Russian period. The myth about Tygyn as a leader of the Sakha tribes has a wide historiography. Correlating the folklore materials with the written documents, one can trace the time and conditions of formation of the Sakha sovereign’s folklore type.
