Summary/Abstract: The museum, archive and library materials in the field of aviation exist today in various forms, all in accordance with the objectives of the institution. Those collections can also provide its contribution in terms of studying the history of aviation. The Museum of Aviation represents a good praxis. It preserves and maintains the museum, archive and library materials and resources from this, still an elite discipline. The museum has its own publishing activities as well. Being museum, in the first place, and having an archive and a special library, the institution presents the cultural heritage of all nations who gave their participation in the creation of aviation history. A large part of the collection relates to the peoples who lived under the auspices of the former Yugoslavia. In particular, it is a collection that includes aircrafts, equipment and items that were used by air staff, as well as different documents, letters, photos, posters, books and non-book materials. The range of collection of The Museum of Aviation covers the period of over a hundred years. With main setting, divided to outdoor and indoor exhibition, then production of publications and other various items, and all the occasional thematic exhibitions, this institution has been able to promote the aeronautics through military and civil aviation which both have always been in public focus. In other words, the activities of the Museum include details that are integral part of peacetime and war air activities, air transport of persons, baggage, cargo and mail and, finally, the aviation as a sport activity. With the infrastructure already set up, aeronautical institutions represent an excellent source for operation in the field of protection and promotion of cultural heritage to the general public. Setting aviation institutions on a single platform is the first step towards the preservation of cultural heritage in the field of aviation.
