Summary/Abstract: Academic librarianship is a basic support activity of education and research on universities. The aim of the University of Maribor Library (UML) and its services and professional potential is to be an equal partner in educating a professional, who, with his/her creativity and innovativeness, will be added value for the society. The treatise presents the activities of the University of Maribor central university library that are based of the basic strategy for providing quality of the University of Maribor Library. This strategy is based on the library’s self-evaluation reports, on the international evaluation of library services in the European context according to the BIX methodology, and on the comparative analysis of indicators for determination of successful comparable libraries in Slovenia provided by CEZAR. Statistical data are crucial for strategic management and a long-term development of library services as well as for a more effective use of library financial means. The aim of this treatise is to present methodologies of different systems for quality evaluation that are used in the University of Maribor Library for developing new services, effective planning and management.
