Summary/Abstract: Karl Dedecius (1921–2016) is regarded as the most productive German translator of Polish literature and the leading personality of German-Polish dialogue in the second half of the 20th century. He left an extensive oeuvre, which includes about 200 translated books of Polish and Russian literature (including numerous literary anthologies) and several own essayist works. Among them there are 50 volumes of the “Polish Library” as well as his monumental “Panorama of the Polish Literature of the 20th Century”. The list of authors translated by him has more than 300 names.
