Threat of compensation balance and damages in compulsory property insurance

Summary/Abstract: In connection with the increasing number of events of catastrophic nature in Poland an attempt has been made to introduce another compulsory insurance: an insurance from the effects of floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and landslides for the owners of residential buildings. It is very important to use the replacement value in these contracts, but the insurers prefer the actual value which includes the technical wear. This is consistent with the current situation in the market of voluntary products. It has also the social objectives to achieve (get money to rebuild the damaged facilities).
