Summary/Abstract: In her article, the author undertook the issue of innovativeness of Polish enterprises seen through the prism of opportunities created by the national strategies of stimulating innovations in business and EU funds, and particularly the Operational Programme Innovative Economy (OP IE). An aim of considerations is to recognise changes in the companies’ approach to innovativeness owing to financial support by EU funds, including an answer to the question if the projects financed within the framework of the selected activities carried out by the OP IE are enough innovative to affect the degree of competitiveness of the Polish sectors and Polish economy. The basis for the article is analyses of the type of desk research of the selected strategic documents and statements relating to the degree of OP IE implementation as well as the information obtained in interviews with OP IE beneficiaries. The carried out analyses show that the approach demonstrated by public institutions to ensuring favourable conditions for enterprise development, and particularly to stimulating their innovativeness, which may be translated into greater competitiveness of the sectors and economy, undergoes great changes. Nevertheless, improvement of the level of enterprise innovativeness seems to be still disproportionate to the efforts made, and entrepreneurs have still been tackling many barriers in this respect.
