Summary/Abstract: Under the conditions of global competition, it is not the very enterprises but connected with them cluster structures have an important impact on competitiveness of sectors and entire national economies. An aim of considerations is to present the regional differentiation of the developmental potential of clusters in recently successful exports in the Polish agri-food sector. Assessment of the developmental potential of these clusters was made using the methodological approach applied in mapping of business clusters by the European Cluster Observatory, ECO, supplemented by own analytical modifications. It is stated that the developmental potential of food clusters is in Poland regionally strongly diversified. Therefore, support for development of these clusters within the framework of public intervention should be aimed in compliance with the existing in a given region potential determined by concentration of employment or by the number of operating entities representing definite branches.
