Summary/Abstract: After Bulgaria’s Liberation, Perushtitsa, during the late 19th and early 20th century, endeavours to revive its traditions in the economical and spiritual development, inherited from the Bulgarian Revival Period. The statistical data and the lists of students in the school books of the three schools in Perushtitsa at that time, show the striving of Perushtitsa’s population for education. The Council of Elders, with its insisting on the procurement of textbooks and other school materials, and most of all, the hiring of well-educated teachers, practicing educational techniques contemporary for the time, predetermine the optimal results in the schools and the appearance of the village.
