ICOANA-MĂRTURIE ORTODOXĂ PENTRU CEI DIN AFARA BISERICII
THE ICON – ORTHODOX TESTIMONY FOR THE OUTSIDERS OF THE CHURCH

Summary/Abstract: In the year dedicated by the Holy Synod to the icons and to the painters of icons, this study shows how the icons are, for those abroad the Church, signs of the Eastern Christianity. During time, more and more non-Orthodox people appreciate the spiritual significance of the icon or at least its art value. For such reasons, Western theologians wrote books about the theology of icon, and in some Catholic or Anglican churches from Europe, the byzantine icons have been painted, for showing the spiritual bound with the Eastern Christianity. In the following, the study shows some examples of these.
