Summary/Abstract: Being defined as the first female preacher of the Republic and the Primadonna (leading actress in an opera) of the nation, Meliha Avni Sözen was a very good example to the first educated and intellectual Turkish women of the Republic. This exemplarily woman, who has never been seriously investigated in terms of who she was, how she lived and what she did, always desired to be remembered forever. Meliha Avni Sözen has not only set an example, but also succeeded to actually become unforgettable with her splendid preachings that she called “my actual profession”, what she did for education, especially for the education of girls and her commitment to Atatürk and the Revolution. This article has been completed within a long process of research, which included collection of all documents as well as interviews with those having information about her.
