Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the issue of the relationship between the Church and liberation in the theology of Edward Schillebeeckx. The author first describes the negative contrast-experience. He then presents the basic dimensions of Christian salvation according to the great Dutch theologian. Emphasis is placed upon the concept of the Church as the sacrament of the liberation.
