Summary/Abstract: The 'otherness' a properly that is brought from birth. Comprehensive of individual difference can become with imaginary otherness and comprehensive of social difference can become with symbolic otherness, too. In each condition, in fact, the 'otherness' is to recognize by oneself. The 'other' which was perceived very different figures in the historical process influences both society and art in our period. "The other' has ensured to rise a new style in the literature. In society and art of Ottoman, the other was perceived very different with a lot of. aspects from the other societies. The same case continues at the period of Republic, too. The other which is explained in the Turkish literature, first of all purposes to strengthen the national consciousness and to manifest the differences.
