Summary/Abstract: Legal regulation of nature conservation and landscape protection, including protection of wild animals and plants, is one of the fields with the longest tradition in the Czech environmental law. The core of current legal regulation is the Act No. 114/1992 Coll., on the Conservation of Nature and Landscape, as amended. The article deals with legal aspects of public interest in nature conservation and landscape protection proceeding. Firstly, it defines the concept of nature conservation and landscape protection and focuses on the subjects of preservation. Secondly, it provides the definition of public interest in nature conservation and landscape protection as a legally defined value shared by whole society. Thirdly, the article focuses on conflicts of various public interests. Finally, article deals with legal aspects of private interest in nature conservation and landscape protection and its relation to the promotion of public interest.
