Summary/Abstract: In his contribution the author focuses on the youth community work campaigns, organised between 1975 and 1978 in Brkini. They meant a step forward in the development of this demographically endangered and economically underdeveloped region in the Slovenian Littoral. The contribution defines Brkini geographically, and the poor development of this area is briefly outlined. The majority of the article consists of the description of the youth community work campaigns, broken down by individual years, and their achievements at the construction sites of the Brkini ridge road, waterworks, etc.
