Buklije of Drvenik: Contribution to the Research of Wedding Customs in the Makarska Littoral

Summary/Abstract: This paper describes the custom buklija which is still used in the Dalmatian village of Drvenik during the wedding celebration. The terminology and distribution of this custom is also examined through the relevant literature and series of semi-structured interviews conducted in September 2014. This paper can be a contribution to the research of wedding customs in the region of Makarska littoral in a narrow sense and on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in its hinterland in a broader sense.
