Summary/Abstract: We propose to emphasise and analyse the lexical and symbolic meanings of dreams as they appear at Mircea Eliade’s fantastic characters in the two novellas: At the Gypsies and Miss Christina. In order to achieve our purpose we need to make a clear distinction in the way the different types of dreams identified in the two stories, the catalepsy, the conscientious dream, the dream into dream and the telepathic dream are being contextualised and to analyse the motif of dream.Given the diversity of Romanian linguistic expressions in capturing the protagonists’ wandering from one dimension into another, we aim at investigating the real-unreal and oneiric levels of dreams as they appear in the Mircea Eliade’s two novellas.
