Summary/Abstract: The global financial crisis emerged from the subprime mortgage market in the USA has been discussed on and on since its beginning. When the ABD economy fell into recession in 2008 it was assumed that effect of crisis would be limited with financial markets. However it would not be case. Crisis affected real economy rapidly. In the last quarter of the 2009, the growth rate of world economy decreased severely. Free movement of capital caused an increase on the number and the volume of the hedges in financial markets and this turned in to an important element which made the crisis more devastating. This study argues that crisis is an intrinsic characteristic of world capitalist economic system and the process of the globalization of capitalism. The study also discusses the fact that global crisis has been affecting the ability of the IMF in conducting the world economy.
