Summary/Abstract: The major role in contemporary sociology belongs to the issue of autobiography and the so-called biographical method, understood variously. There is a development of research on history of life based on both subjective and objective sources. Professor Szczepański applies both these ways. The author focuses on his works on the course of life, based on scholarly research results, but also on his personal reflections, his own experience and common knowledge. This is what there is to be found in Sprawy ludzkie (1978) /“Human Issues”/ and O indywidualności (1988) /“On Individuality”/.
