Summary/Abstract: An objective of the author’s deliberations is to show the housing situation as well as satisfaction with the housing conditions and place of residence in metropolitan households in Poland. In order to collect full and up-to-date information on housing conditions, satisfaction of the place of residence and assessment of housing conditions of metropolitan households, in the direct survey there was used the method of questionnairebased interview on the sample of 1896 respondents. The process of surveying housing conditions, satisfaction with the place of residence and assessment of housing conditions of metropolitan households in Poland was divided into two essential areas. Thus, in the first area, the focus was mainly put on recognition of the housing situation and housing conditions, while in the second one – the focus was made, first of all, on assessment of satisfaction with the housing conditions and place of residence of metropolitan households. In his article, the author undertook an attempt to look at the issue of changes in purchasing behaviour of metropolitan households in Poland. In result of the carried out surveys, there was taken into account the housing situation, housing conditions and type of the flat occupied as well as satisfaction with the place of residence in metropolitan households in Poland. A research article. Out of the initial number of interview questionnaires accounting for 1900 respondents, there were qualified 1896 questionnaires what accounts for 99.8% of the entire sample. In a further procedure, they were subjected to the process of coding, while the set of data created on their base was processed with a statistical package.
