Summary/Abstract: Logistics has a great contribution for increasing the living standards of the population and it is an important component of the GDP. From a global point of view, it is considered to be an important sector of the world economy. At the level of enterprises, it provides optimal flow of goods, services and information. With the development of information technologies and the growth of volumes of global trade it has become more important. The main themes of this article are trends and strategies in logistics. An assessment of the current state of freight transport in the Czech Republic, in the EU and in the world is important with regard to the current state of individual transport modes. Also devel-opment strategies of freight transport between Asia and Europe and usability of individual transport modes with regard to basic criteria are important. The result is comparison of those routes, finding the optimal route of transport between Asia and Europe.
